Layla Tov is a social venture aiming to create a safer nightlife. Layla Tov (Hebrew for “Good Night”), was started by women who love going out and feel it’s time that bars and clubs become safe spaces for everyone. We teamed together with bar and club owners and the Tel Aviv Sexual Assault Crisis center, to develop an innovative model to tackle the problem of sexual harassment and assault in the nightlife. We’ve developed with them a policy of zero tolerance towards sexual harassment and violence and train them to offer full support to women and men who are harassed and feel unsafe.
Bars and clubs joining Layla Tov sign a voluntary code which binds them with the following principles:
-
The staff, managers and owners must undergo annual training on how to recognize, prevent and address sexual harassment and violence. The trainings are facilitated by professionals from Layla Tov or a partner certified organization.
-
Signs conveying the message of zero tolerance to sexual harassment must be hung in visible places within the bar or club.
-
The club/bar assigns a staff member who is the coordinator and lead in all topics relating to combating sexual harassment.
-
The staff has to always address sexual harassment complaints immediately, respectfully and sensitively.
Nowadays Layla Tov is run by The Association of Rape Crisis Centers in Israel.
Layla Tov was established in Tel Aviv in 2015, and to date, over 100 bars and clubs from all over Israel have joined us.
